Omega-3 is not a new market
EPA and DHA already support mature global nutraceutical, supplement and nutrition categories.
NuFoods is not attempting to replace established marine or algae-derived suppliers. The commercial case is to develop another credible option where the ingredient and supply arrangement fit a customer's requirements.

EPA and DHA are related, but not interchangeable
EPA
A long-chain omega-3 used in a range of established nutrition applications and the initial focus of NuFoods oil development.
DHA
Another long-chain omega-3 with its own formulation, specification and market requirements.
Ingredient fit
Buyers evaluate concentration, ratios, format, stability, origin, documentation and intended use rather than the category name alone.
Another source can add options without displacing existing supply
Different biology
Selected microalgae offer a direct biological route to EPA-rich ingredient development.
Another geography
A New Zealand base could provide another qualified production location within a global supply system.
Customer choice
The value exists only when product specification, quality, logistics, price and continuity requirements are met.

Canterbury,
New Zealand
NuFoods is based in a region with scientific, engineering, food-production and export experience relevant to an emerging ingredient company.
Location does not replace technical capability
New Zealand can be relevant to international customers, but origin alone does not make an ingredient competitive.
NuFoods still has to demonstrate repeatable production, suitable quality, workable logistics, regulatory pathways, customer fit and commercially sensible economics.
